General Dental Services available:
Dental Cleaning/Hygienist
At Aventis we do everything we can to promote thorough dental cleaning and it all starts at home. We will advise the most suitable toothbrush and toothpaste for your specific needs and we give out lots of advice on how to clean your teeth and gums properly. As part of your regular dental regime, we recommend six monthly professional dental cleaning with one of our dental hygienists.
Children’s Dentistry
Dr Jonathan is a great believer in teaching children about looking after their teeth and gums. The earlier they start, the more it becomes second nature as they grow older. Paediatric dentistry has come a long way over the last decade – the emphasis is now firmly on prevention and child friendly check-ups. This leads to children feeling completely at ease and helps ensure a great oral health regime that should last a lifetime.
Dental Fillings
If you’re experiencing tingling or sensitivity to food or drink, you may well require a filling. At Aventis we have a range of fillings available and the choice you make will be informed at an initial consultation. All our fillings are tooth coloured and shaped professionally to your existing tooth. Our clinic is fitted with noise cancelling headphones and ceiling fitted TV screens so all you need to do is lie back and relax whilst the filling treatment is completed.
Inlays and Onlays
Inlays and onlays are used like fillings to repair damaged teeth or cavities, but instead of being made from composite material, they’re crafted from porcelain in a dental lab. This 3D custom design allows them to fit the cavity of the tooth perfectly, almost like fitting a puzzle piece. They are a more conservative option than crowns, as they preserve more of the natural tooth. The porcelain material also makes them stronger than conventional fillings, closely resembling the natural tooth in both appearance and strength, making them less prone to breaking.
Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are essentially a kind of “cap” for a tooth which has been damaged or worn, maybe through decay or just general wear and tear. Crowns are a solution where cavities or the tooth itself cannot be remedied with a simple filling. At Aventis every restoration of a tooth we place will involve us using the highest quality materials and the very latest in technology and technique. Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is a way to replace missing teeth. It uses artificial teeth to fill the gap where teeth are missing. These replacement teeth are held in place by the natural teeth or implants on either side of the gap, which act as anchors. The bridge helps restore your ability to chew, speak, and smile normally. It also prevents nearby teeth from moving out of position. There are different types of bridges depending on the situation, including traditional and implant-supported bridges and at your initial consultation at Aventis we will discuss the various options available to you and work out the best solution for your individual needs.
Dentures
Dentures are a type of dental restoration provided by Aventis for clients with missing or damaged teeth. Made from either a chrome or plastic base, custom dentures fit over your gums and are held in place by the remaining teeth or the gums themselves. At Aventis, we usually complete this treatment over a series of four appointments and at every stage we’ll be there to help and advise until you are completely happy with the treatment outcome.
Tooth Extraction
At Aventis we pride ourselves in doing everything in our power to prevent teeth removal but sometimes even we have to admit defeat! Occasionally patients arrive with teeth decayed or damaged beyond any restorative treatment outcome. In these circumstances, a tooth or teeth removal becomes the only viable option. We will always treat all patients with compassion and gentle care and again, all our treatment chairs are fitted with headphones for you to listen to music and also ceiling TV screens can help you forget about the ongoing work. Post tooth removal we will administer pain relief and we’re only a call away if there are any issues after treatment.
Mouth Cancer Screening
Here at Aventis, every time a client sits down for an appointment we provide a free mouth cancer screening check along with checking for other serious oral conditions. Prevention is better than cure is our mantra and this simple screening only takes a minute or two, checking the cheeks throat and tongue for anything foreign or suspicious looking. Should anything untoward turn up, we will either refer you to one of our Consultant colleagues on Cayman or set up another appointment for you.
Dentistry with Sedation for Nervous/Anxious Clients
At Aventis, we know some people are incredibly worried, anxious, nervous or downright afraid of visiting the dentist. We have invested a lot of time in trying to make our clinic the most relaxing and welcoming dental “spa” on Grand Cayman. However we also offer sedation for patients who need a little something more to smooth the whole experience.
Dr Jonathan trained in sedation dentistry at the University of Florida and can offer sedation either orally, by IV drip or by inhalation. The treatment is extremely safe and you will not be asleep, clients describe the experience as more a relaxed, dream like state. Ask about these services at your initial consultation if you have any anxieties about your dental treatment.
